Kobayashi-san chi no Maid Dragon

If I wanted to find a word, which could be used to describe every anime made by KyAni that word would be “cute”. “Kobayashi-san” is a cute anime about a dragon Tooru who is living as a maid with a programmer(?) Kobayashi-san. Kobayashi-san has hell’s amount of work every day, virtually has no friends but, step by step, Tooru starts bringing some light and colors into the Kobayashi’s grey life.

Tooru isn’t the only one dragon in our world, after her arrival several more mythical beasts show up here and each founds a human to live with.

As I said, this is a cute anime, dragons are really adorable, there are some nice animation scenes and recurring jokes… and that’s it. Unfortunately, “Kobayashi-san” can’t catch, can’t offer anything unique, special. And it would’ve been okay if it was as cute and funny as K-On, but no. “Kobayashi-san chi no mad dragon” is a beautifully drawn anime without a plot and if it didn’t any dragons I suppose it would’ve been forgotten immediately after this winter season (yep, with dragons it’s going to take a little longer =))

  1. That’s kind of why I stopped at the first episode. There was nothing wrong with the episode except that it didn’t interest me. Even with a dragon in the story, it failed to interest me because she spent most of the time just being the cute girl (and a clueless cute girl at that). While I’m sure many people will enjoy watching Dragon Maid, it just didn’t appeal to me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  2. Agreed, but for me there were two reasons to continue watching – KyAni has people and resources to keep the quality bar rather high; and, to be honest, it wasn’t a very exciting season, so it’s better “Kobayashi-san” than nothing
